EDUCATION AMENDMENTS

THERE ARE TWO AMENDMENTS

There is an Open Enrollment Amendment. This measure will bring open enrollment back to Oregon and give students access to any public traditional or public charter school with available space regardless of where the student lives. A student's education will no longer be limited by zip code!

There is a School Choice Amendment. This measure will create a School Choice Account for families who choose an Account. Each child will be eligible for a minimum of $7,600 per year. Families will be able to customize their child's education by directing those $7,600 education dollars to private school tuition, homeschool curricula, and other approved educational costs free from government control.

These two measures, taken together, will give parents the ability to choose among all of the possible learning avenues -- public, public charter, private, and homeschool -- to select the educational setting that fits the unique needs of the student.

You will find an introduction letter from Donna Kreitzberg,  one of the chief amendment sponsors along with past Gubernatorial candidate Marc Thielman.  This letter is a basic overview of the amendments and what the overall intention of the these amendments are.

So in total you will find: an Introduction Letter and an Amendment Summary
